P I C K ‘N’ M E L T – Candle Haul.

Being the adult I am now I obsess over finding lovely things for my house. I genuinly would rather go out on a Saturday, house shopping, than I would clothes shopping in Zara..wait do I mean that? Probably not but I do love buying things for my house. Candles are just brilliant, they really do ‘make a house a home’. I absolutely love when i walk in from a day at work and Els has every single candle in the house on, it just feels so warm and homey inside.

The problem with candles is they can be sooo expensive and if you go for the wrong one you can spend a fortune on something that doesn’t even smell of anything. I don’t mind spending a lot on a candle if its good quality but when it really is useless its very frustrating and not something you want to waste your money on. Here are some of my favourite candles that are genuinely really good and worth your hard earned pennies.

My new find is a brand called Pick ‘N’ Melt. You get a base where you put the tea light and a top which is where you place your wax. I also got 16 packs of their most popular scented ‘cube melts’ as they call them, which come in little packs of 6. You literally do what it says on the tin and pick and mix your favourite smelling waxes and you can keep adding to it. My favourite part about this is there’s no mess and its pretty much a never ending candle. The smell is not to strong which is good as sometimes candles can give me headaches.

Mine and Els all time favorite wick burning candle is 100% the Olivia Blake ones, they are bloody beautiful. Normally they are quite expensive retailing at around £60 for a 3 wick and £30 for 1 wick but TK Maxx have loads of them. You can get a 3 wick for £15 and 1 wick for £6, bargain ey? But seriously they are so good, if your reason for buying candles is to fill your house with a certain smell as opposed to just creating a candle lit atmosphere then these are brilliant!

I absolutely love big candles that last forever, but to find a good one that actually smells nice can be expensive. Another brilliant TK Maxx find is this Erbario Toscano vanilla candle and it is so nice. I love how it looks with its name burnt into it like the old days when you would seal a letter with candle wax, its so unique and looks really expensive I think. This candle genuinely smells sooo lovely and its got such a subtle smell which means you can mix it with other candles and they won’t clash. We have ours in a white lantern [also from TK Maxx] on the floor in the living room and it just adds so much character to the room.

If your not one for spending lots on a candle then these little vanilla ones are perfect. We got these from Dunelm for £1.99 and they are seriously good. I couldn’t believe it when I picked it up and smelt it but then after getting home and lighting it I was even more chuffed with my purchase as they really do fill a room. I have no idea what they are called as I took the label off but if your ever in Dunelm definitely pick a few up. They are great for the bathroom or hallway.

I LOVE candles! They can make your home super cosy and smell delicious! I purchase all mine from Yankee Candle but I’ve heard good things about the Olivia Blake range, perhaps I’ll check it out.
